Maynard is a new resource for Dance and Movement Arts in Rural West Wales. Here in Abercych in the lower Teifi valley, we are developing and curating a body of Dance dialogues that promote and explore different ideas and interpretations of place and identity. Through located dance artist residencies, performance events and social dances we invite a local and wider public to share in conversations and experiences that reveal the often complex, ephemeral and kinetic relationships to our bodies, homes and existential territories.

Through curated performances, events, social dances, films and workshops we intend to support and enhance the Dance culture in this part of the world.

If you would like to contribute to this resource, please post topics for discussion on the forum or sign up to the newsletter to stay informed of future events. We look forward to hearing from you.

The name Maynard comes from a line of graffiti on an old school desk in Simon’s studio, the former schoolroom in Llangoedmor.

‘Dance first. Think later. It’s the natural order.’

Samuel Beckett

Adnodd newydd ar gyfer Dawns a’r Celfyddydau Symudiad yng Ngorllewin Cymru yw Maynard. Trwy berfformiadau wedi curadu, digwyddiadau, dawnsiau cymdeithasol, ffilmiau a gweithdai, bwriadwn gefnogi ac atgyfnerthu’r diwydiant Dawns yn y rhan hon o’r byd.

Mae Maynard hefyd yn ddarn gwaith perfformiad dawns gan Simon Whitehead. Wedi ei greu yn yr hen ysgol yn Llangoedmor, yn ganolog i’r darn yw hen ddesg, wedi ei arysgrifio gyda’r graffiti ‘MAYNARD’.

‘Dawnsiwch yn gyntaf. Yna meddyliwch. Dyna’r drefn naturiol.’
